A Study Score (SS) indicates how well a student is studying based on their study habits. For example, a student will get positive points for studying frequently enough and using the repeat button. They will get negative points for relying too much on the translation or text buttons.
The student will get a separate Study Score for each course that they study. The weighted average of all of the study scores is the student's Weighted Study Scores (WSS)
1) When a student finishes studying, the DynEd engine recalculates and writes out the student's current WSS and SS scores
2) When the teacher runs the Records Manager, the application reads the WSS and SS scores without having to recalculate them
- Even if you come in weeks or months later, it shows the same WSS and SS scores
- In other words, the WSS and SS that you see in the RM are as of the last time that the student studied
- If you change the begin/end date, however, it will recalculate the WSS and SS scores (but it does not save the values)
3) If a student goes on vacation
- their WSS and SS scores will stay the same in the RM.
- When the student returns from vacation and starts to study again, their WSS and SS will drop temporarily
- This makes sense since they have not been studying.
- But the scores should recover quickly since some of the calculations depend on study in the last two weeks and some is based on how much they have studied ever.
