Error: SMTP Host Name

When sending e-mail I get "Error: SMTP Host Name"

When sending e-mail from within the Records Manager application make sure you have a valid e-mail address and SMTP Host Name.

  • To E-mail: Enter student's e-mail address here.
  • From E-mail: Enter instructor's e-mail address.
  • CC E-mail: Enter other interested party's e-mail address.
  • SMTP Host Name: Enter the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) Host Name. Typically, this will be something like “mail.someplace.com” where the “someplace.com” is the second half of the teacher’s e-mail address, i.e., the part following the “@” symbol. If you do not know the name of your SMTP server, please consult with the technical person in your organization in charge of e-mail, or contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Note: The default port number for e-mail is Port 25. If your technical person says that they use a port other than port 25 (i.e. 2555), then add a colon and the Port number to the end of the SMTP Host Name (i.e. mail.someplace.com:2555)
