Running a WSS report

How to use DynEd Analytics to check WSS scores:

 

1) Click here to run DynEd Analytics (FAQ)

  • Bookmark this link if you have not already done so
  • Select your Records Server


2) Log in to DynEd Analytics

  • Use your normal Records Manager login and password (Admin or Monitor)


3) Select the groups for which you want to see the report

  • You should see a list of your Partners.
  • If not, drill down by clicking the blue links (not the checkboxes)
  • Click "Select All"
  • Click "View Reports..."


4) Select the data that you want in the report (the settings will be remembered)

  • Type: GROUP
  • From: Set to about 3 months ago
  • To: Set to last month (you can only access data through the last full month)
  • Period: MONTHLY
  • Data options: WSS Average (optional: Active Students, Average Time, Days/Month)


5) Run the report

  • Click "Apply"
  • Wait about a minute
    • You should now see the report -- one line for each Partner
  • Sort the report based on the WSS of the most recent month
    • Change the pull-down to "WSS Average"
    • Click on the most recent date (like 11/13)
  • Find the Channel Partner or Country with the worst WSS
    • Scroll down and look for the groups with the worst WSS scores
  • Export the report
    • Change the pull-down to XLS and click Save As...

Glossary

General Notes

  • All values are limited to the period specified by the user.
  • All values refer to the Group and sub-groups specified by the user.
  • All values exclude study done in classes specified as "PT-Only" or "Demo" unless other specified.
Study Time and Frequency
  • Total Hours: Every study record of every student records for how long the student studied. This value shows the sum of the study time (in hours).
  • Average Hours: Every study record of every student records for how long the student studied. This value shows the average of the study time (in hours).
    Days/Month: This value shows the average number of unique study days per month.

Study Quality

  • WSS Average: Every study record of every student has a WSS (Weighted Study Score ) related to it. This value shows the average WSS of all study records.

Student Counts

  • Active Students: The total number of students who studied. This does not include students in "PT-Only" or "Demo" classes. It also does not include students whose only study ever (even outside of this period) was the Placement Test or Speaking Test.
  • Inactive Students: The total number of students who did not study. This does not include deleted students.
  • Active Percentage: This value shows the percent of the students that are Active. Active / (Active+Inactive)
  • Demo Students: This value shows the number of students in "Demo" classes. It includes all students (whether active ot inactive) except deleted students
  • PT Students: This value shows the number of students in "PT-Only" classes. It also includes students whose only study ever (even outside of this period) was the Placement Test or Speaking Test.
  • Students Deleted: The total number of students whose account were deleted.
  • Students Expired: The total number of students whose account expired.
  • Students Disabled: The total number of students whose account were disabled.

    Analytics User Guide

    Login Page

    1. Enter your Records Manager ID and Admin or Monitor Password
    2. Click Login

    Select Group Page

    1. Click the button to the left of the group (or groups) that you are interested in or click the group itself to drill down to a sub-level
    2. Click View reports

    View Report Options Page

    1. Select the Type of Report: Group, Teacher, Student                             
    2. Select the TO and FROM time periods that you are interested in
      • The earliest should be January 2012
    3. Select the 'Data option(s)' that you are interested in
      • WSS Avg: The average WSS of all of the qualifying study records (includes WSS from all courses -- core and non-core)
      • Study Days: The average number of unique study days that students are studying within the TO/FROM period
      • Study Hours: The total study hours that students are studying within the TO/FROM period
      • Active Students: The total number of students who studied during this period (including PT, PTA, ST, STB)
    4. Select the period you are interested in
      • MONTHLY will show the month-by-month trend of one 'Data option' over the MONTHS defined by the TO/FROM period
      • TOTALS will show various data elements at the same time defined by the TO/FROM period
    5. Click Apply
      • Only counts study records within the TO/FROM period of all students within the selected groups

    Results Page

    1. Click the column headers to change the sorting
    2. MONTHLY report
      • Use the pull-down to select the 'Data option' that you are interested in
    3. Click Save as... to export/print the report (not done yet)
    4. Click Select Groups to start again
