USB Microphone is not recognized

All Windows systems that have a sound card should have the default Microphone set to
the one plugged into the sound card. If you have added a USB headset, the system
should assume the USB microphone. If it doesn't, check these settings:

  • Sounds and Audio Devices
    - Go to: START -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL
    - Double click "Sounds and Audio Devices"
    - Select the Audio Tab.
    - Look for the "Sound Recording" section.
    - Make sure that the default device is set to the USB headset.
    - Do the same in the "Sound Playback" section.
    - Select the Voice Tab.
    - Look for the "Voice Recording" section.
    - Make sure that the default device is set to the USB headset.
    - Do the same in the "Voice Playback" section.

  • Volume Control
-Go to: START -> PROGRAMS -> ACCESSORIES -> ENTERTAINMENT -> VOLUME CONTROL
    - Select Options -> Properties
    - Make sure that the default device is set to the USB headset.
    - Click "Recording"
    - Make sure that the "Mic Volume" is checked. Click OK.
    - Make sure that the Mic is not muted and the volume level is high.
    - Do the same in the "Playback" section.
